After our washer and dryer went out, my wife and I went into Bestway Rentals in High Point, NC to rent a set. We found a Crossley set that we liked and decided on it.

We asked the rep if the set was new (rto companies are notorious for passing off pre-owned stuff as new). He assured us it was out-of-the-box fresh. "I'd never do that to you," he said, "sell you something used, then charge you for a new one."

That's what his mouth said. He lied.

A week later, we began having issues with the units, first, the washer.

It leaked from around the hoses. Solution: new hoses. YAY! Fixed that.

But, then, it wouldn't program. As it came with no documentation, we called about the issue.

No one came. I went back over my contract, only to find that the set we were renting was, indeed, used--it was listed as such on the "CONDITION" line of the contract. When I took the contract to the store and inquired about it, the rep said they have to list it as used if it isn't delivered in the original packaging.

Never heard THAT one before.

I requested a new set, but was told that it would be a while before they could locate one. Hmmm...

They never looked.

A few weeks later, they dryer began having issues: it wouldn't completely dry the clothes. We complained of this several times after and was told they would have someone check it out. NOPE!

NADA! More runaround. As a part of the contract, we were told we had to get insurance in case the units malfunction. Never heard THAT one before, either, but okay.

The rep assured us that, with the insurance, if anything happens, it would cover the repairs and we would be set up with a replacement until ours was fixed. If it couldn't be repaired, we would be issued another set of equal value, and we wouldn't have to start over again.

Guess what?

Yep, you guessed it: when we asked for another set, we were told, "well, you already have about three months invested in the set you have. If you get another one, you'll have to start all over again." BUT, he said someone would come out to look at ours.

That was Tuesday... No one came.

We went to the store Thursday morning, but was told that they couldn't get anyone out until Friday.

When asked about the possibility of a substitute until ours got checked, "we don't have any right now.". So, we waited Friday, but no one came. We called Saturday and was told that someone would be out by the end of the day. But, again, you guessed it: no one came.

This place is ridiculously overpriced for such terrible customer service.

The lady that works there is really nice, but the guys will lie through their teeth. We're returning the set and are going to try Aaron's. I dealt with them before with good results, and they try really hard to satisfy their customers.

The wife wanted to try Bestway. I'll bet she's regretting THAT decision.

Preferred solution: At least a replacement

User's recommendation: I'd advise anyone to look around. If you can avoid renting all together, please do. If you can't, at least avoid this company

Everything yall have online is not in the stores I can't never seem to get what I want or seen then the prices change already paid for it but still yet to receive was told it will have a new shipment Friday I don't know I'm just still waiting so my children can have somewhere to be comfortable...the people are nice but service sucks..

Overpaid one year

I have tried for the last 6 months to get in touch with you all The management refuses to return my phone call and they owe me 1 year of rental and I really could use my money I'm on a fixed income and all they do is lie and tell me they're going to call me within the 48 hours over and over and over again I have a Verizon bill to prove I've been calling you all and you never yet to call me back My name is Lisa Lorance I rented from New Albany Indiana on State Street and they will not do absolutely anything to help me

Complaint on services

I have a few questions

I have called and left messages and I havent received any response yet!!! It seems if I have so much money that is owed to them that they will at least want to give all their me or come up with some resolution to retrieve their money if owed. Took item when it was even late

I rent to own a Xbox and ps5 My bill was due 9/27 and my card declined with them knowing I work third shift they showed up at 3:30pm and took my Xbox but left the ps5 I have been miss treated by this place I sent a message off there site and have gotten no response from corporate after calling another location and asking me f thats what there company does he agreeed it was wrong and unprofessional now I dont want them but I dont want to loose all the money Ive paid so far!

4 months ago they were suppose to deliver a deep freezer but I never got it. I have been calling them every other day to give me my 150.00 they took for this but they keep giving me excuses. And will not give me corporate phone number. They keep telling me that corporate has to do it. I want my money back now.

I’m being contacted for property that isn’t mine

I was contacted by an aggressive agent from Alliant Capital Management and he was very rude. I just want to know what the property is that Im being charged for cause it belonged to my son. I feel since they cant contact him that they are trying to make me pay for it which is not right. I just want someone to contact me and let me know what it is I purchased since they say its me.

Very unprofessional

They tryed to take a payment before my due date. I will never recommend anyone to them. When I ask why she try to take a payment before my due date she said everyone got there check early and when I tried to tell her I didn't receive mines and that it wasn't even time for my payment she got smart with me and hung up the phone in my face

Horrible service

I needed a payment arrangement made because I havent been time at work and need extra time to pay my bill, the associate that I spoke with at the Montgomery location was horribly rude and when asked about an extension she told me yes she could but there would be fees(which I already knew) with an attitude. However they still ended up taking the payment which put me in the negative that I was trying to avoid.. Im other words I think the Montgomery Al location should be staffed with individuals who want the job

Harassment and Slandering Accusations

Update: Nothing has changed in our situation as of yet, no apology or acknowledgement, but no other incidents have occured either.

A new manager to our Bestway store took over a few months ago and lo and behold we start receiving multiple phone calls from Brian. We have had no issues with the previous manager, Mark, he was a very nice person and we always got our account paid up and and took care of.

We have had some issues and ups and downs with our paychecks, working in furniture production jobs, but we always make the payment as soon as we can for over a year! But Brian wants to call and ask paying customers if they still even have the merchandise or if we have sold everything and if we are living in our car?! This is just incredulous that you work hard and try to do things the right way and you receive slandering and accusations like these! Not too mention he sends workers to your second job (at a gas station across from our house) to harass and embarrass you some more, trying to show me papers when I have about nine or ten customers in line?!

This manager I understand has a job to do but disrespecting honest people is just wrong to me. Sincerely, just trying to do right.

I went in and asked if they had a king size mattress and box spring and was told yes, I filled out my paper work and paid the down payment, then was told that it wouldnt be in for two weeks. After two weeks a mattress and foundation was delivered, I called and said I wanted a box spring and not a foundation, was told that they only have foundations, and Juma Smith told me he would check the store to see if he had two twin box springs so I waited and he came and told me yes, when the box springs was delivered, they was very stained and looks as it had dried blood stains on it so told the delivery guys I will not accept nothing like that.

Called the store and asked for Juma but was told he wasnt in. A week later I went to store to talk with Juma and was told he was on vacation and I told the other salesman what the problem was and he apologized and said he would have Juma call me when he gets back from vacation. Never received a call. On the due date for my payment I purposely didnt pay because I knew someone would be calling about my payment.

Surely someone called and I told them to come pick up their merchandise because I was going to a different place because I wasnt satisfied. The salesman told me that they would come pick up the merchandise on Thursday at 11am. I get off work early so that I could be home to give them the merchandise and no one ever can or called. Still have it here at my house.

I live around the corner from the store so I happened to be driving by the store and saw the same blood stained box springs that they tried to sell me on the side of the street for trash.

I did stop and took a picture of it for my complaint as evidence as to what was sent to my home. Been dealing with Bestway for over 30 years and always paid on time but this time it was poor customer service and I will never deal with Bestway again or refer anyone to them.
